New Album: Darren Hayman – ‘I’m Your Team’:
Darren Hayman just released his gorgeous, surprise new album, ‘I’m Your Team.’ Which you can find on Bandcamp, and all digital platforms. It’s also included for free (along with The French’s ‘TV Themes‘ EP we released in September) as a part of his “Never-Ending Singles Club” Bandcamp Subscription.
“The latest of singer/songwriter Hayman’s idiosyncratic DIY projects involves making an album using only the once-ubiquitous, now outdated DX7 synth. Here, it (and he) sound fragile and lovely in equal measure.” – The Guardian
“Hayman is a songwriter who can turn out a phrase like no-one else. He has the enviable talent of writing extremely clever songs which always come from the heart, and he’s been doing it consistently and prolifically for thirty years. I’m Your Team sees him at his most undiluted and emotionally stark, delivering some of the best songs of his career.” – KLOF Mag
“The prolific creator’s latest uses the Yamaha DX7 synthesiser to create 50 minutes of startlingly lovely music to soothe troubled souls – 8/10.” – musicOMH
“One of the finest albums I have heard so far this year, it’s always nice to witness a master of his art at the top of his game.” – Monolith Cocktail
“These are songs that sit at the fresh end of a tradition that goes back to Timmy Thomas and Why Can’t We Live Together, but also includes sections of McCartney II, Kid A and albums by Broadcast, James Blake and Alexis Taylor.” – Pete Paphides
“Downbeat can go both ways, and it definitely works well here, both for Hayman, but also for anybody that ventures to take a listen – 4/5.” – Spill Magazine
